On Tuesday, May 13th, Holy Cross School will celebrate the announcement of the NEW pope, a gesture of joy and jubilation. This celebration will actually coincide with the celebration of the Crowning of the Statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary (located in front of the rectory) led by the First Communion students in the second grade. We will have a school mass at 9:30 am, then process towards the Statue of the Blessed Mother after mass, then crown the Statue to recognize the Virgin Mary as queen of heaven and earth and protector of Holy Cross. Right after the Crowning, students will proceed to the gymnasium for a celebration with pizza, cupcakes, and ice cream!
In recognition of the sacredness and joyful occassion of the celebration on Tuesday, May 13th, I ask all students to wear their UNIFORM slacks (uniform skirts for girls) and school shoes, no sneakers. They may wear top shirts with the color motif of the Pope, which is WHITE and GOLD, or with the color motif of a Marian feast, which is WHITE and BLUE. The color for the day will therefore be WHITE, GOLD, AND BLUE.
