The Catholic world celebrated on Thursday, May 8 as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected Pope. Holy Cross students and faculty joined in on the celebrations by gathering in the Church to watch the event unfold on two large screens. Led by Father Higgins, the gathering was a time of anticipation, celebration, and prayer. Father Higgins discussed the process of the conclave and the Cardinals who were possible candidates to be elected. Teachers and some students also had the chance to even cast their own votes for which Cardinal they expect to be Pope. When Cardinal Prevost was named and became Pope Leo XIV, there was great celebration welcoming this new leader of the Church and the first Pope from the United States. Holy Cross School is excited and prays for the guided leadership and success of Pope Leo XIV.
